[Fresh Albums] Big Gigantic, Vince Staples, Isaiah Rashad

It’s a long, holiday weekend, meaning you’ve got plenty of time to go outside, spend time with family and friends…or sit in dark rooms and listen to great, new tunes. If you’re opting for the latter, we’ve got not one, not two…but THREE new albums hot off the presses for you.

For fans of electro-funky-awesomeness, Big Gigantic’s Brighter Future is for you. The album features collaborations with genre mainstays like GRiZ and hip-hop giants Logic, Waka Flocka, the up-and-comer Pell, and a lot more. This may favorite work from Gigantic yet, and that’s saying something. Awesome album from the first to the very last track.

For the hip-hop heads, we’ve got Vince Staples Prima Donna and Isaiah Rashad’s The Sun’s Tirade. Very different energy levels and vibes, but both great in their own rights. Fans won’t be disappointed.

Stream the albums below.

GTA & What So Not – Feel It (feat. Tunji Ige)

GTA and What So Not producing together? This ought to be good.  And though Flume may no longer be a part of What So Not,  you can certainly still hear his influence here.

Check out the fresh new track below.

Daily Bread – Cloud Conductor

Between the soulful vocal samples, old-school instrumental accompaniment, and fantastically chill production, it seems this Daily Bread guy is taking some serious cues from Pretty Lights with this playlist. In fact, the similarities are so striking at times I wouldn’t be surprised if we found out that this was a secret Derek Smith side project.

Some of my personal favorite tracks here include the breezy “Cloud Making”, which features a flute riff that I swear could have been performed by Ron Burgundy himself, and the hip-hop infused “The Storm”, featuring Obeah.

So sit back and fade into the clouds.

[VIDEO SLIDESHOW] Camp Trill

Miss last weekend’s wet & wild Camp Trill? Relive the experience via our first ever video slideshow.

Shout out Brownies & Lemonade for another great event. Not that we expect anything less at this point.

Soulection Radio

I’m always excited to see Soulection posting up a new set. This one is featuring samples from Miguel, Rihanna, Drake, and more. The smooth, R&B-inspired production are sure to help you transition from another hectic week of work.

Marian Hill – Act One

Ever since I first stumbled on their singles “Down” and “Got It”, I knew this duo had something special going on. Now they’ve released their first full-length album, and I’m happy to report they’re keeping up the good work. Minimalist electronic production, cool vocals cut to funky perfection, and some fantastically unique sampling make this album a gem, worthy of the blog’s first post.

Give it a listen below.
